April Inspiration {04.03.17}

Where did the month of March go and how is it almost Summer?! No complaints about that here since, as I write this, it has been raining for a week straight. I’ve been feeling really inspired lately by so many things and I wanted to share some of that with you all. Apologies this post has a little bit of everything in it, but variety never hurt anyone, right?

April Quote

I’ve been thinking a lot about where I am personally in life. You think at 21 you have your life all mapped out. Spoiler alert: life throws whatever it wants at you whenever it wants. My love and saint of a boyfriend is always telling me things will work out when they’re supposed to. I know he’s right, but since the love part of my love/hate relationship with social media shows me what others are doing, I get all anxious and want to rush the process. So, for April (and going forward) I’m going to learn to live in the moment and remind myself that life isn’t always as glamorous as it may seem in the those tiny Instagram squares. I think it’s very important to embrace what life has given you- the good and bad- and just enjoy it. Also, stop worrying about whatever everyone else is doing because in the end, does it really matter? Nope.

April Style Inspiration

This dress is off the shoulder and has pockets…need I say more? Even though navy is a dark color, I’m still obsessed would wear it all summer. A bit of a side note to my April style inspo…I’ve been working on my body/nutrition/health and really hoping my glamour muscles (that could be flab under your arm) will be ready for this dress. If not, I’m still wearing it because…its off the should and has pockets. Yes, please!

April Music Inspiration

If you have a chance, you should probably try to go one of these tour dates from The Maine. I’ll be at 2 because I just feel so proud of these guys. I’ve been following their career from the beginning and you just learn to love them as people. Their music is amazing. I just can’t say enough good things about these guys. This album is going to be AHHHMAZING, a feel good, and emotional one I can feel it. Listen to them here! Music is always inspiring for me. What type of music inspires you?

April Goal

I’m in an online bootcamp class with my bootcamp instructor that I’ve been a participant of for a very long time we have been talking about personal development. Something I think everyone can benefit from. I used to think “self help book? I don’t need that!” But you DO! My coach has always told me about this book “The Miracle Mile” because I am NOT a morning person and she recommenced this book to read. It’s currently on my nightstand so I will report back on how it is! Who knows, maybe I’ll actually get up and work out before work… But on a serious note, my goal this month is read more books like this for my mind. We get so wrapped up what others are doing or we get in a mindset where we think we’re stuck and this is how our life will be. Trust me, I had a breakdown about this recently. But you’re not stuck. If you feel stuck, make a change! Life is too short to be unhappy. You literally need to “be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire”.

Hopefully this post was somewhat inspiring for you friends. I think its a good thing that so many things (or people) can inspire you. It keeps you itching for more out of life and keeps a drive inside of you to do what truly makes you happy. All in all, April is about surrounding yourself with people, music, books, fashion- whatever makes you feel passionate- as much as you can. New month, new goals, make it count…we’re already 4 months in 2017- make the next 8 amazing.

A Day in Brooklyn

A Day in Brooklyn

Yesterday was a MUCH needed time away from Connecticut. There is something about a city that just makes me feel so happy. Maybe it’s all of the different people your are surrounded by. The energy is unreal so when my Dad asked me to go see my sister in Brooklyn, I said yes. Even if he wanted to get up at the crack of dawn on a Sunday…

I snapped a few photos with my phone including a peek of my sister’s adorable apartment. It was such a gorgeous day! Spending time with my Dad + sister was a plus too! 😉

Have a good week, friends!

Niagara Falls

Finally! A trip out of New England to explore a new (at least for me) place. I wanted a place to share all of the photos I took with my camera and a place to tell friends and family about the trip in general. So, through my tired eyes, here’s a quick recap of the trip! (All photos are my own!)

I’ve never been to Niagara Falls and being the nature lover that I am, I was so excited to see something so natural and beautiful.

In front of the American Falls our first day there.

The bridge from Canada to the U.S. (and vice versa)

The American Falls and the Canadian Falls

The weather was pretty perfect. Sunny both days we wanted to explore.

Our hotel had beautiful grounds and this small courtyard. (Hi David!)

On our first full day there, David and I decided to do the Journey Behind the Falls since I was too chicken to go on the Maid of the Mist. Instead, I took a photo from above with my feet on the ground.

On the Journey Behind the Falls you get to stand at the base of the Canadian Falls which was pretty insane. The Canadian Horseshoe Falls erodes 1 foot every 10 years and the drop is 170ft high, and is a major source of hydraulic power in the area. We got to walk literally behind the falls (bottom picture) and see tunnels that were made specifically to maintain them. The Niagara River flows at 35 mph so I can only imagine how fast it was falling right in front of us. So freaking cool.

The second day David and I decided to try the sky tower to see the falls from above then have lunch from one of the many falls view restaurant. How crazy is this view?!?

The view from our last dinner of the trip. So beautiful!

750ft above the falls! A nice husband and wife snapped this for us and then the wife and I closed our eyes all the way back down. Guess I wasn’t the only one trying not to have a panic attack being in teeny elevator so high! (Sidebar: this is one of 4 jumpsuits I’ll be living in this summer.)

And now the countdown begins to Virginia Beach with my family. That’s always a party!

Missing Mexico

Missing Mexico

Ever feel like if you could just get away for a few days? And you would promise yourself you would feel rejuvenated and ready to take on your to-do lists?!

That’s me today. It is frigid here in Connecticut and having today off, I hibernated. After getting an email from my Aunt about our summer family vacation, I started to think about my potential upcoming travels. Thinking about places I’ve been, dying to go to, and places high up on my ‘must visit’ list. Being in the same routine almost every week, I get bored and crave adventure. I’m pretty sure this happens to all of us- especially for those of us who have to deal with the bitter winter months!

I started thinking about my trip to Cancun/ Playa Del Carmen, Mexico this past May. It was the destination of our family vacation this year and my first time somewhere tropical. While some of the family stayed back, it was probably one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. And BONUS! My cousin and her amazing now husband were getting married and I was lucky enough to be a part of it! The beach AND a wedding?! I was in (with some hesitation at first)!

After my minor panic attacks about getting there safely, I was able to enjoy these views for a week…

This view…

The majority of the family stayed at here. It was perfect minus the food. I mean, who really enjoys buffets?

The bride and groom stayed in Playa Del Carmen at Valentin Imperial Maya which was beyond beautiful. You felt like you were in your own little Mexican town. Highly recommended!

Onto the pictures every loves to look at…wedding pictures!

The bride, Tara, got the maid of honor and I these amazing robes to get ready in! She got them on Etsy.

How picture perfect it this?

Group pic!

My family are pretty much party animals and I expected nothing less, especially while in Mexico!

Last, but never least a little inside to my family…

The ladybug is the symbol for my family ever since my Grandmother passed away ten years ago. Her house was constantly infested with them and she was the light of our family. The bride’s mother found these Kate Spade ladybug earrings and pinned one in her bouquet. The perfect tribute.

Looking back at these pictures, it makes me want to say ‘no’ to items I think I need now and save money to travel. There is so much to see just in the United States alone, it would be a shame if we never took those journeys to explore!
