When you find kind souls to take your photo and know how to get all the important things in one shot… Thank you!

When going on any trip, what’s the one thing you really want to pack? If you guessed camera, you are correct! And if you can guess who forgot hers on her desk, I’ll give you a high five.

Yep, that’s me!

I snapped a few photos with my phone and just wanted to share. I was happy to get out of CT with my love for a weekend. The first day we walked, for what seems like miles and miles, around Boston just enjoying the day. The only thing on my agenda was Johnny Cupcakes and Acorn St. The second day we went to the Boston Harbor Islands’ Spectacle Island. It was beautiful to see the city skyline from there and next time I’ll plan a little better on what to do there. I’m happy we got to explore a new part of Boston. We also obviously spent some time at the harbor (my favorite place).

I had my own moments on the trip, but we’ll save that for an inspirational/you kick ass post later.

On to planning our next trip…which is hopefully Portugal.

It has been a (long) while since I’ve had time to sit at my computer and create content! Luckily (or unluckily) the state of Connecticut was shut down due to a blizzard. Ahh…a break! Before the blizzard, I FINALLY got a chance to go see my sister in New York City this past weekend. She is literally my best friend and not seeing her since Christmas had me going a little crazy. I’ve also been itching to shoot this cardigan! How perfect is this?!

IMG_6295

My original plan was to wear these Vans, but all weekend it was 20 degrees and windy so warmth won over fashionable. How perfect would they go with the striped detail on the sleeves?! I am definitely styling this cardigan with shorts and Vans for Summer evenings. I’ve been trying to pinpoint my style and lately its been casual. Don’t get me wrong, I am dress OBSESSED, but a good pair of jeans and your favorite top go a long way. Also, the more comfortable you are, the more confident you become.

Like I said, windy and cold all day!

I hope everyone on the East Coast/New England survived this crazy blizzard. Hopefully its the last one before Spring gets here! Enjoy the rest of your week, friends.

I hope everyone had a lovely (and filling) Thanksgiving! I know I earned my workouts this weekend!

My sister came in from the city for the holiday so I stole her for a little while to help me shoot some photos. Make sure you check out her blog Black In Bloom! It was so gloomy out this past weekend, but we tried to make the best of it. We recruited our younger cousin to take the last photo of us. Future blogger? I was so happy to spend the afternoon with some family even it was in a furniture store with zip lining. Such a genius idea if you ask me! The dinner together, a few card games, and tons of laughs was worth it.

I’ve had a week off from working so it felt nice to actually get dressed..whoops.. I chose my go-to staples in my closet this fall: a cable knit sweater, jeans, and booties. Cozy, classic, and super comfy. My bag was a splurge buy for myself, a “I NEED that bag!” moment for sure. And bonus: you can emboss it with any letter(s) of your choice. In love!

Weekends go by so fast, I definitely tried to savor every moment before going back to reality. Hopefully you were all able to get some rest, enjoy Christmas decorating, or whatever else makes your souls happy.

Have a wonderful week, friends!

Crabs, Colds, and Chardonnay: Virginia Beach Recap

Just about every summer, my family and I take a summer trip. This year we went back to one of our favorite spots: Virignia Beach. We were missing a whole bunch of people this year, but we made the best of it!

Since we didn’t do much of anything (that’s what you’re supposed to do on vacation!) here are a few photos I took throughout the week:

It rained the first couple of days, and my uncle and I ended up sick, but me and my sidekick for the week took a nice morning walk on the beach.

The sun finally came out!

David and I took a walk on the beach one night and saw the most beautiful dolphins. When I was little I always wanted to be a dolphin trainer, so for them to be 25ft off the coast, it was miracle I didn’t jump in the ocean.

Our little friend for the week… Yeah, that’s a big crab.

Most of the week was spent by the pool enjoying the HOT weather with some nice cold beverages. But on our last day, we took a boat ride through the Virginia Aquarium to do some dolphin sightseeing…again I wanted to jump off the boat…

Father’s Day Over the Hudson

This weekend I celebrated my Dad with something I did not even knew existed- a walk over the Hudson River. He’s a very outdoorsy type so I knew it was something he really wanted to do.

Here are just a few pictures I snapped with my phone:

I was most interested in learning about what The Walkway Over the Hudson was about. Formerly the Poughkeepsie-Highland Railroad Bridge, it used to be used as a railroad as well as carried troops that were being shipped overseas during World War II. Kind of fitting since my day is currently a First Class Sargent in the Army National Guard.

The walkway is now a cool 212 feet above the Hudson and 1.28 miles long. So, in the 90 degree heat we experienced yesterday, I’d say I got my workout in for the day. And, as always, I wanted to take home every pup I saw walking. (It’s a problem really.)

Props to my Dad for picking out a new spot to explore and enjoy the beautiful summer weather here in New England.

Happy Father’s Day to all of the Dads, Stepdads, and Grandfathers out there!

Niagara Falls

DSCN0194

Finally! A trip out of New England to explore a new (at least for me) place. I wanted a place to share all of the photos I took with my camera and a place to tell friends and family about the trip in general. So, through my tired eyes, here’s a quick recap of the trip! (All photos are my own!)

I’ve never been to Niagara Falls and being the nature lover that I am, I was so excited to see something so natural and beautiful.

The weather was pretty perfect. Sunny both days we wanted to explore.

Our hotel had beautiful grounds and this small courtyard. (Hi David!)

On our first full day there, David and I decided to do the Journey Behind the Falls since I was too chicken to go on the Maid of the Mist. Instead, I took a photo from above with my feet on the ground.

On the Journey Behind the Falls you get to stand at the base of the Canadian Falls which was pretty insane. The Canadian Horseshoe Falls erodes 1 foot every 10 years and the drop is 170ft high, and is a major source of hydraulic power in the area. We got to walk literally behind the falls (bottom picture) and see tunnels that were made specifically to maintain them. The Niagara River flows at 35 mph so I can only imagine how fast it was falling right in front of us. So freaking cool.

The second day David and I decided to try the sky tower to see the falls from above then have lunch from one of the many falls view restaurant. How crazy is this view?!?

The view from our last dinner of the trip. So beautiful!

750ft above the falls! A nice husband and wife snapped this for us and then the wife and I closed our eyes all the way back down. Guess I wasn’t the only one trying not to have a panic attack being in teeny elevator so high! (Sidebar: this is one of 4 jumpsuits I’ll be living in this summer.)

And now the countdown begins to Virginia Beach with my family. That’s always a party!
