When you find kind souls to take your photo and know how to get all the important things in one shot… Thank you!

When going on any trip, what’s the one thing you really want to pack? If you guessed camera, you are correct! And if you can guess who forgot hers on her desk, I’ll give you a high five.

Yep, that’s me!

I snapped a few photos with my phone and just wanted to share. I was happy to get out of CT with my love for a weekend. The first day we walked, for what seems like miles and miles, around Boston just enjoying the day. The only thing on my agenda was Johnny Cupcakes and Acorn St. The second day we went to the Boston Harbor Islands’ Spectacle Island. It was beautiful to see the city skyline from there and next time I’ll plan a little better on what to do there. I’m happy we got to explore a new part of Boston. We also obviously spent some time at the harbor (my favorite place).

I had my own moments on the trip, but we’ll save that for an inspirational/you kick ass post later.

On to planning our next trip…which is hopefully Portugal.

April Inspiration {04.03.17}

Where did the month of March go and how is it almost Summer?! No complaints about that here since, as I write this, it has been raining for a week straight. I’ve been feeling really inspired lately by so many things and I wanted to share some of that with you all. Apologies this post has a little bit of everything in it, but variety never hurt anyone, right?

April Quote

I’ve been thinking a lot about where I am personally in life. You think at 21 you have your life all mapped out. Spoiler alert: life throws whatever it wants at you whenever it wants. My love and saint of a boyfriend is always telling me things will work out when they’re supposed to. I know he’s right, but since the love part of my love/hate relationship with social media shows me what others are doing, I get all anxious and want to rush the process. So, for April (and going forward) I’m going to learn to live in the moment and remind myself that life isn’t always as glamorous as it may seem in the those tiny Instagram squares. I think it’s very important to embrace what life has given you- the good and bad- and just enjoy it. Also, stop worrying about whatever everyone else is doing because in the end, does it really matter? Nope.

April Style Inspiration

This dress is off the shoulder and has pockets…need I say more? Even though navy is a dark color, I’m still obsessed would wear it all summer. A bit of a side note to my April style inspo…I’ve been working on my body/nutrition/health and really hoping my glamour muscles (that could be flab under your arm) will be ready for this dress. If not, I’m still wearing it because…its off the should and has pockets. Yes, please!

April Music Inspiration

If you have a chance, you should probably try to go one of these tour dates from The Maine. I’ll be at 2 because I just feel so proud of these guys. I’ve been following their career from the beginning and you just learn to love them as people. Their music is amazing. I just can’t say enough good things about these guys. This album is going to be AHHHMAZING, a feel good, and emotional one I can feel it. Listen to them here! Music is always inspiring for me. What type of music inspires you?

April Goal

I’m in an online bootcamp class with my bootcamp instructor that I’ve been a participant of for a very long time we have been talking about personal development. Something I think everyone can benefit from. I used to think “self help book? I don’t need that!” But you DO! My coach has always told me about this book “The Miracle Mile” because I am NOT a morning person and she recommenced this book to read. It’s currently on my nightstand so I will report back on how it is! Who knows, maybe I’ll actually get up and work out before work… But on a serious note, my goal this month is read more books like this for my mind. We get so wrapped up what others are doing or we get in a mindset where we think we’re stuck and this is how our life will be. Trust me, I had a breakdown about this recently. But you’re not stuck. If you feel stuck, make a change! Life is too short to be unhappy. You literally need to “be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire”.

Hopefully this post was somewhat inspiring for you friends. I think its a good thing that so many things (or people) can inspire you. It keeps you itching for more out of life and keeps a drive inside of you to do what truly makes you happy. All in all, April is about surrounding yourself with people, music, books, fashion- whatever makes you feel passionate- as much as you can. New month, new goals, make it count…we’re already 4 months in 2017- make the next 8 amazing.

Keep On Dreamin’ {3.15.17}

It has been a (long) while since I’ve had time to sit at my computer and create content! Luckily (or unluckily) the state of Connecticut was shut down due to a blizzard. Ahh…a break! Before the blizzard, I FINALLY got a chance to go see my sister in New York City this past weekend. She is literally my best friend and not seeing her since Christmas had me going a little crazy. I’ve also been itching to shoot this cardigan! How perfect is this?!

My original plan was to wear these Vans, but all weekend it was 20 degrees and windy so warmth won over fashionable. How perfect would they go with the striped detail on the sleeves?! I am definitely styling this cardigan with shorts and Vans for Summer evenings. I’ve been trying to pinpoint my style and lately its been casual. Don’t get me wrong, I am dress OBSESSED, but a good pair of jeans and your favorite top go a long way. Also, the more comfortable you are, the more confident you become.

Like I said, windy and cold all day!

I hope everyone on the East Coast/New England survived this crazy blizzard. Hopefully its the last one before Spring gets here! Enjoy the rest of your week, friends.

Simple Beauty {02.20.17}

With Winter feeling like its on its way out here in CT, I started thinking about how my dry skin will finally take a hike. Moisturizer has been my best friend which is ironic because my skin is probably the oiliest on the planet (thanks, mom!). I wanted to share my normal beauty routine to keep my skin hydrated and as clear as possible to maybe help others and get some suggestions for myself. Please note: this post is not sponsored, but you’ll find out why I swear by bareMinerals.

Flashback to my early 20s when I used liquid concealer like it was my job. I have oily skin to begin with then add all the extra goop on top? Sure, why not! I was living in Virginia at the time and my aunt suggested I try bareMinerals. I thought, “yes because powder is going to stay on my face let alone cover up anything”. Well, turns out my aunt was right (Thanks, Aunt CeCe!). Now it’s my daily routine to use all of their products because they keep my skin in balance. And to me, less is always more. dscn0482

Was anyone else freaking out when bareMinerals revamped their line?! I had my doubts about it, but was honestly too afraid to go back to drugstore face wash (nothing wrong with that) in fear my skin would just go nuts. So I use this cleanser in the morning and evenings and LOVE it. My face is LITERALLY squeaky clean after. I follow it up with this moisturizer before make up. It’s light and creamy without a feeling of a film left on your face- love!

For my makeup, I keep it super simple for work because, well, its work. Less is more in my opinion. The less makeup, the more breathable skin is. I just use a matte powder, blush, and eyebrow pencil. On the weekends, I’ll add eyeshadow and lipstick because who doesn’t love a good lip color? If I didn’t get enough sleep and it shows, I tend to use the the Complexion Rescue under my eyes.

The last time I was in the West Farms location, I saw this perfecting veil at the register and though I’d give a try. As a setting for your makeup, I love it! It’s light so nothing looks caked on.

But most importantly… I drink water pretty much 24/7 to keep my skin hydrated. Seems so simple, right? Well, I fell off the wagon last week and let me tell you, my skin (and rest of my body) paid for it. I had breakouts and dry skin…lesson learned!

My question for you, my beauty lovers, do any of you have recommendation for a mask? I’m dying to try one. Something that works well with oily skin. Thank you in advance ladies!

Mindfulness and Relaxation {1.30.17}

Happy Monday, friends!

I had this weekend pretty much to myself and I planned to stay in my pjs as late as possible and just relax. It got me thinking about the ways I love to unwind and just mellow out. Here are some of my go-to ways to recharge my batteries!

  1. Listen to music. This is my first and foremost activity I go to relax. I love music (who doesn’t?!) that helps to me just let go my day whether it was good or bad. If you follow me on instagram, you would see screenshots of all of the albums I’m currently addicted to in my story. whoops! However, lately I’ve been really into using my record player before bed. I have a sorry excuse for a collection, but it’s still my favorite. Some of my favorite to listen to? Jack’s Mannequin/Andrew McMahon in the WildernessLydia, and BrightenProcessed with VSCO with q1 preset

2. Write in a gratitude journal. This was a recent 2017 goal of mine; to stay in a positive state of mind. I found a gratitude journal on amazon and promised myself I would write in it at least 3 times a week. So far, so good! I really enjoy this because everything I see before I go to sleep is positive. I’m thinking, writing, and reading something good that happened in my day. For me, and maybe for others, it lets me let out a sigh of “everything is good” and I can sleep sounder at night.

3. Read a personal development book. Sticking with my pma theme this year, I found a few self development books. Sidebar: I dislike the word “self help”. You don’t need help, you are choosing to grow. Anyway! I read one over the fall that everyone seems to like (You Are a Badass) and I just started a book by Lisa Sugar, founder of PopSugar. Reading in the evenings always help my mind to turn off and just focus on one thing.

4. Color. I definitely love this one. I’ll even put on music and just sit in my bed and color. It’s another activity that makes you focus on what you’re doing and not your entire day. It also helps me feel creative even if it is just coloring. This reminds me that I am need of a new coloring book!

5. Drink tea. This is obviously something you can do while doing any of the above. I tend to go for the Yogi bedtime tea. I have a hard time sleeping through the night, so anything that might help, I’ll try it.

For myself I really need to wind down after a full day of work and from anything else that’s been going on. A lot of people tell me to do yoga, but I never got into it. If any of you know any good at home yoga programs, please let me know!

Have a great week! I have a few other posts coming up this week so keep an eye out for the link.

New Year, New Perspective

New Years

Oh hey friends! You may be wondering why I’m back on my blog after saying I was done with it. Bear with me and I’ll lay most of it out for you, promise! But first things first… I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays at the end of 2016. I celebrated Christmas and many birthdays, including my own, at the beginning of the new year. I also took time to reflect on the things I enjoy in life and what truly makes me happy and excited. The reason I’m back blogging has to do a lot with my time away from it.

I took a break around the holidays because- the holidays. During that time I didn’t really feel inspired, I felt very depressed, I felt lost and really just hid in my room. What a way to end a year, huh? There were days I would just cry at my desk at work for no reason. I was a mess. THEN I celebrated my 31 birthday. 31.  I think I freaked out more about turning 31 than 30! You may think this is silly and that you have change your mindset any day of the week, but for me it was on my 31st birthday. I did not want to start a new year and a new age feeling unworthy, having zero self confidence, and not having any personal goals. That day I decided that I was going to do everything I could to get healthy. Healthy in my mind, healthy with my body… Just healthy and happy.

Where does blogging fit into this? Well, I realize that everyone nowadays thinks their story should be heard and guess what.. it should. We can learn so much from each other even if it’s through social media. But we have to LISTEN and not JUDGE one another. During my personal development binge, I realized that I enjoy writing, connecting, and creating a space for anyone to enjoy. I don’t want it to confined to just one topic. Most bloggers would shush me because consistent content is key, but you know what…oh well! My time away from writing, blogging, and photography made me realize that those are things I truly enjoy.

So, I hope you’ll still following along as I have some content coming up about fitness, mental health, goals, life adventures and more. I really want to, for lack of better words, keep it real. Life isn’t all what is in the squares of an Instagram page or what people CHOOSE to share on Facebook. However, it is what YOU make of it.

Look for more posts weekly and please feel free to talk with me!
